DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke baseball team returns to action Tuesday against Davidson at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, N.C.  Recently, sat down with senior catcher Al Morris to learn more about the Bethesda, Md., native. What has been your proudest moment at Duke?
Al Morris: I was a walk-on here, so probably making the team was my proudest moment. I would have to say my first hit sophomore year was really a shining moment for me, and having my teammates have my back all throughout the at-bat was pretty incredible. What is your favorite part of being a Duke student-athlete?
AM: The atmosphere of Duke. It’s such a great academic school as well as a great athletic school, so it’s just kind of a dream come true coming to Duke. My dad and my uncle went here, but they played football. It’s a dream come true to be a student here. What’s your favorite spot on campus?
AM: I’d say my favorite spot on campus is the baseball field. Do you have any words of wisdom for any future Duke athletes?
AM: Cherish this because it’s a once in a lifetime experience. Being a student-athlete, a college student athlete, especially a Duke student-athlete is unique and is a great opportunity for anyone. Tell us about a time when you first started playing baseball.
AM: I probably took my first swing when I was two, but I started playing when I was around five or six.  I got into tee-ball, and loved it, so I kept going with it. If you couldn’t play baseball for some reason, what other sport would you want to play?
AM: I played football in high school too, so I like that as well. What was your favorite food as a child?
AM: I like spaghetti a lot. It still is my favorite food. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
AM: Baseball player. Major league baseball player. Since being here I’ve broadened my horizons a little bit. My major here at Duke is visual arts, so I’m trying to become a 3D modeler and animator. I also have a dream to maybe become a coach one day. If you won the lottery what’s the first thing you would do?
AM: I would probably go buy a convertible Mercedes, one of my favorite cars. Do you have any hidden talents?
AM: I have a pretty good three-point shot. I used to shoot around all of the time in my backyard, but other than that I am not much of a basketball player. I am strictly a spot-up shooter. Do you have any embarrassing music on your iPod?
AM: I guess I like some Miley Cyrus sometimes, so maybe I’d get made fun of for that. Who has been the biggest influence on your life?
AM: My father. He works hard at everything. He just retired actually and worked in the senate for a while. He always just worked so hard at his job, and when he was a student-athlete, he’d be in the weight room as much as possible working hard to get on the field. He’s been a real influence for me. The rest of my family has influenced me as well.
