DURHAM, N.C. – The NSCAA released the first Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Player of the Week of the 2012 season on Wednesday with Duke redshirt junior Kim DeCesare earning accolades.   DeCesare registered eight points on three goals and two assists as the Blue Devils knocked off 20th-ranked William & Mary and Elon.

DeCesare’s opening weekend has garnered her numerous honors this week as she has been named the ACC Player of the Week and to the Team of the Week.  Over the weekend, she made the first starts of her career at center forward and now owns 10 career goals, including three game-winners.

A product of Massapequa, N.Y., DeCesare posted one goal in the 4-1 victory over 20th-ranked William & Mary on Friday and then registered two goals and two assists in an 8-0 win against Elon on Sunday.

The Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Players of the Week are announced every Wednesday; next week's announcement will also include the first men's Player of the Week pick of the season.

Each week, one male and one female player is selected by a committee from nominations submitted by NCAA Division I conferences. The winners will also be recognized during the NSCAA College Game of the Week broadcast on FOX Soccer.

The second-ranked Blue Devils are slated to play the University of Montreal on Aug. 24 and will face off against Florida on Aug. 26 as part of the UNC Classic in Chapel Hill, N.C.
