The Field is Set
The NCAA Tournament field of 16 is set and the Blue Devils earned their 17th berth into the postseason event as the No. 7 overall seed. Duke will host Loyola in the first round May 12 at 5:15 p.m. on ESPNU. It will mark the second time the two teams have met this season with Duke emerging with the thrilling 9-8 victory during the regular season. It is also the second time the Blue Devils and Greyhounds will square off in the NCAA Tournament – Duke also won that game, 12-7 in 2009.

Career Marks at Marquette
Duke’s dominating 19-3 victory at Marquette resulted in numerous career highs for the Blue Devils. Freshman Myles Jones notched a career-best five points with his first career hat trick and two assists. Rookie Deemer Class had a career-high three points, while Jamie Ikeda picked up a career-best two ground balls. Joe Kruy picked up his first career caused turnovers and senior Spencer Peterson posted a career-best in ground balls. Sophomore goaltender Ben Krebs registered the most saves of his career in his 20 minutes of action.

NCAA Tournament Notes
The Blue Devils enter their 17th NCAA Tournament with a 24-15 all-time record in the postseason event. Duke is 15-5 under head coach John Danowski and has advanced to the championship weekend in each of his six seasons at the helm. Earning the No. 7 overall seed for the fourth time overall, Duke is 3-3 in the seven spot with the last time coming in 2002. With 24 wins compared to 17 appearances, Duke is one of seven programs to have more wins than showings in the tournament. The Blue Devils’ .615 win percentage is tied for fourth in Division I lacrosse.

John Danowski Looking to be The First
Behind the strength of a 17-6 win over Colgate in the 2012 quarterfinals, Duke head coach John Danowski became just the second coach in Division I men’s lacrosse history to lead a team to championship weekend in each of his first six seasons at the helm. He joined Syracuse’s John Desko on the list – Desko led the Orange to the final weekend from 1999-2004. A seventh straight showing on Memorial Day weekend would make Danowski the first leader to guide a team to the semifinals in each of his first seven seasons after Desko lost in the opening round in 2005.

A Balanced Offense Sharing and Scoring
Duke tallied 19 goals for the fourth time in the 19-3 victory over Marquette Sunday afternoon. Ranked third nationally in scoring offense – 14.06 goals per game – the Blue Devils are dishing out 8.24 assists per game and scoring 22.29 points per game. Their 8.24 assists average is behind only Albany’s 9.18, while the 22.29 points per outing are second to the Great Danes’ 25.24. The Blue Devils are one of two programs to have six different players averaging over two points per game this season – Princeton is the second.

Approaching Scoring Benchmarks
A selection of Blue Devils is approaching both single-season and career scoring benchmarks heading into the NCAA Tournament. Junior attackman Josh Dionne needs just five more points to become the 41st Duke player to register 100 career points and join current teammates Jordan Wolf and Christian Walsh on the list. Senior David Lawson is just 10 points shy of joining the century club, while senior captain Josh Offit is 11 points from 100. Junior attackman Jordan Wolf needs three goals to become one of 10 Blue Devils in program history to register at least 50 goals in a season.
