DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke track and field program will open the 2012-13 season at the JDL College Kick-Off Classic on Saturday, December 1, in Winston-Salem, N.C. Forty-seven sprinters, distance runners, jumpers and multi event athletes will make the trip to compete in the one day meet.
The JDL College Kick-Off marks the beginning of the season for the Blue Devils and is the only event on Duke's schedule for the fall semester. The Blue Devils' roster this weekend includes 2012 NCAA indoor heptathlon champion Curtis Beach and All-American Cydney Ross, while 19 freshmen are set to make their collegiate debuts. The Blue Devils have collected two individual NCAA Champion titles in as many years including Beach in the indoor heptathlon in 2011 and distance runner Juliet Bottorff in the 10,000 meters in 2010. Last season alone, Duke garnered a total of seven All-America honors.
