GUILDFORD, England – Three Blue Devil alumnae are in action at the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup. Check out updates from pool play at Surrey Sports Park below.

Sarah Bullard ’11 l Midfielder, United States

    • Bullard and Team USA opened the world championship in convincing fashion, notching a 19-3 win over Scotland Thursday.
    • On Friday, the squad turned in a solid defensive effort against Australia, emerging with a 15-8 victory.
    • Bullard recorded a draw control in each of the team's first two wins. 
    • She posted a goal and an assist Saturday as the squad cruised to an 18-1 defeat of England. 
    • Bullard and the U.S. secured the top seed in Pool A with a 17-3 win over Canada Sunday. The Duke alumna had one goal and one draw control in the contest.
    • Team USA wrapped up pool play undefeated, downing Wales, 17-6, Tuesday. Bullard turned in one draw control in the win.
    • With a 5-0 mark, the U.S. moves into the tournament quarterfinals next, facing Israel Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET.

Emma Lazaroff ’16 l Attacker, Israel 

    • Israel started off pool play by dispatching the Netherlands, 17-3, Thursday. Lazaroff tallied two goals, including one in the midst of a 4-0 run to start the contest.
    • Israel added a second victory Friday, defeating the Czech Republic by a 16-8 margin. Lazaroff registered one draw control in the win, helping Israel to a 17-9 advantage in the category.
    • On Sunday, Lazaroff notched one goal and one draw control in an 18-0 shutout of China. 
    • Lazaroff took home Most Valuable Player honors in Monday's 18-0 win over Belgium. She finished with three goals, one assist and two draw controls as Israel moved to 4-0. 
    • Israel played a thrilling overtime contest Tuesday, earning an 8-7 victory over Japan to move into the World Cup quarterfinals. Lazaroff talled the game's first goal and also posted a draw control.
    • Lazaroff and Israel continue playoff action Wednesday, taking on the U.S. at 10 a.m. ET.

Kerrin Maurer ’15 l Attacker, Italy 

    • Maurer scored the first two goals of Italy’s contest against Hong Kong, and went on to add four assists in a 12-10 win Thursday. The Duke All-American also helped Italy claim the draw by a 16-8 margin, winning eight draws.
    • Maurer was tabbed the Most Valuable Player of the match Saturday as Italy edged Korea, 11-10. Maurer turned in two goals, one assist and eight draw controls, notching the assist on Italy's game winner in the 59th minute. 
    • In a narrow 11-10 loss to Haudenosaunee Sunday, Maurer continued to excel on the draw, collecting nine draw controls. She also finished with one goal and four assists.
    • Maurer propelled Italy to a 9-5 win over Switzerland Monday, recording five goals, one assist and four draw controls. 
    • On Tuesday, Maurer totaled three goals, three assists and nine draw controls as Italy suffered a narrow 13-12 setback to Ireland. 
    • Italy will next play Germany on Wednesday. 

Dr. Karen Sutton '99 l United States
Dr. Megan Barnet '03 l Australia

Dr. Karen Sutton, a member of Duke’s first varsity women’s lacrosse team in 1996, is also a member of Team USA, serving as the team orthopedic physician. Sutton caught up with Bullard and 2003 graduate Dr. Megan Barnet at Wednesday’s opening ceremonies. Barnet serves as the Medical Officer for the Australian national team.
