Coach P Delivers Elon Business Commencement Speech

Head coach Joanne P. McCallie was the commencement speaker this past week at Elon University’s Business School. Her daughter, Maddie, graduated from the program with an MBA.

Seven Blue Devils in the WNBA

The WNBA season kicked off this week with opening games across the country. Seven former Duke players made the rosters of four different teams: Alana Beard (L.A. Sparks), Lexie Brown (Minnesota Lynx), Karima Christmas-Kelly (Minnesota Lynx), Chelsea Gray (L.A. Sparks), Haley Peters (Atlanta Dream), Jasmine Thomas (Connecticut Sun), and Elizabeth Williams (Atlanta Dream. will continue following these players throughout the season and posting updates online.


Alana Beard - Best Defender in the WNBA?

Alana Beard, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, was voted the “best on-the-ball defender in the league. The WNBA conducted a survey amongst the league’s general managers, and 67% voted the Sparks player the top defender.


Dr. Jessica Foley Helps the Adelaide Crows Win the AFLW Premiership

Dr. Jessica Foley, a former Duke basketball player, decided to take to the field now as a professional footy (rugby) player in Australia, but only as her weekend job. During the week, Foley works for an emergency room in Adelaide as a general practice registrar. Dr. Foley was drafted to the Adelaide Crows a few months back, and recently helped the team Australian Football League Women’s (AFLW) Premiership back in March.
