Florence-Siena, Italy – In their first full day in Florence, Italy, the Blue Devils actually ventured off on a day trip to Siena. Duke was treated to some more amazing churches, views, shopping and learned all about the Palio di Siena horse race.
The race takes place each year in July and August. Ten horses and riders, bareback and dressed in the appropriate colors, represent 10 of the 17 contrada, or city wards. The Blue
Devils also visited a museum of the contrada. Duke had just missed the August 16 Palio di Siena race, which took place Aug. 16.
Saturday will feature a walking tour of Florence and then the Blue Devils will take on the Italian All-Stars at 2 p.m. (ET), in their second of three contests.
