DURHAM, N.C. – A year dominating on the field and in the classroom has landed Raine Wilson among the best in the country, as the Duke junior was named Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District III First Team.
Wilson is the first player in program history to receive the honor, adding to her list of career honors that include landing All-ACC First Team and ACC All-Academic Team honors in 2018.
A native of Mechanicsville, Va., Wilson capped her second season in Durham by leading the Blue Devils with a .467 slugging clip, .377 on-base percentage and six home runs. Wilson continued to put her name throughout the record books in 2019, becoming the first player to hit two home runs in a single inning (April 20 vs. NC State), as well as the first to crack double digits for career home runs (12).
In the classroom, Wilson holds a scorching 3.78 GPA while majoring in political science. The junior is one of five ACC student-athletes to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.
Wilson is now eligible to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American, which will be announced June 6.
