DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women’s cross country team will have two of its members racing in the 2018 NACAC Cross Country Championships on Feb. 17 in La Libertad, El Salvador.
Freshmen Amanda Beach and Michaela Reinhart are two of the five Team USA members that will compete in the NACAC Championships. The pair earned their spots when they finished in second and third at the USATF Championships in the Junior Women’s Division earlier this month. Beach finished the six-kilometer course in 21:13.6 to take second while Reinhart was right behind her, finishing in 21:17.5 to take third. The top six finishers earned a spot on the USA team that will travel to El Salvador.
Beach and Reinhart will compete in the Women’s Under-20 competition. The race has a field of 34 runners from 14 different countries and will be a six-kilometer race.
The pair of Blue Devils will be looking to add even more honors to their outstanding freshmen seasons. Both were named All-ACC after top-20 finishes at the ACC Cross Country Championships and Reinhart was also named ACC Freshman of the Year. The pair also were named to the All-ACC Academic team.
