DURHAM, N.C. – The 2018 Duke women’s cross country schedule was released Thursday morning, as announced by head coach Rhonda Riley.
The Blue Devils begin the season on Friday, Aug. 31, traveling to Elon, N.C., for the Elon Classic. Two weeks later, Duke will enter into the Adidas XC Invitational in Cary, N.C., on Friday, Sept. 14.
“We are looking forward to keeping things simple in the month of September and stay in the area for competition,” Riley said. “It’s a nice way to allow the team to transition back to school and not miss any classes early on in the semester.”
Duke will make its first long road trip of the season on Friday, Sept. 28 when the top nine Blue Devils compete in South Bend, Ind., against Notre Dame.
In the final weekend of competition before the ACC Championship, the team will split up, as members compete in the Vert Cross Invite at High Point, N.C., while the top seven runners head to Madison, Wis., for Pre-Nationals. Both meets will take place on Saturday, Oct. 13.
“Notre Dame and Pre Nats will be two quality opportunities to put our full squad together and face some great programs,” said Riley. “We are looking forward to traveling and seeing what these ladies can do.”
The postseason will get underway on Friday, Oct. 26 with the ACC Championship in Boston, Mass., hosted by Boston College.
Qualifying Blue Devils will advance to the NCAA Southeast Regional in Rock Hill, S.C., on Friday, Nov. 9 followed by the NCAA Championship in Madison, Wis., on Saturday, Nov. 17.
