DURHAM, N.C. – Both the Duke men’s and women’s cross country teams jumped in the regional rankings, with the Duke men coming in at No. 7 in the Southeast Region and the women checking in at No. 3, along with both receiving votes in the coaches’ national poll.

After a first-place finish at the Roy Griak Invitational this past weekend, the men jumped six spots from No. 13 to No. 7, which was the highest jump in this weeks’ rankings only behind East Tennessee State, which jumped seven spots from No. 14 to No. 7 in the men’s South Region.

On the women’s side, the Duke women climbed two spots from No. 5 to No. 3—their highest ranking since 2013—only behind NC State and Furman. Most recently, the women earned a pair of top-five finishes over the weekend, finishing fifth in the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational and first in the Queens City Invite.

The men return to action this weekend, traveling down the road to Cary, N.C., to take part in the Great American Cross Country Festival on Oct. 6. The women will take the week off before taking part in the ECU Pirates Invite next Friday, on Oct. 12.
