DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke men’s cross country program supplemented its 2019-20 recruiting class, adding another signee Connor Wells.
Wells, a native of Purcellville, Va., comes to Duke from Loudoun Valley High School as a distance runner. Wells was on the Nike National Team Champion for both his junior and senior season, and was also a two-time team state champion for Loudoun Valley in Virginia. He is currently ranked third in the nation in the indoor 3,200m with his early season time of 9:23.03. He owns personal-best times of 4:16.44 in the 1,600m, and 15:24.90.
“Connor has been a leader on the top high school team in America for the last two years as well as a two-time state team champion in Virginia,” said Ogilvie. “We love the winning attitude he brings with him to Duke along with national level experience and some pretty solid track PR’s as well. His recent 9:23.03 3,200m time, run the week after the Nike XC National meet, currently ranks him number three in the nation in that event, and his 1,600m best of 4:16.44 from his junior year is close to the PR’s of some of our other top recruits for the class of 2019.”
