SYLVANIA, Ohio – Duke signee Erica Shepherd carded 12 birdies over her final two days at the LPGA Marathon Classic on her way to turning in a tied for 35th placement and low amateur at the Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio.
Shepherd, who hails from Greenwood, Ind., posted rounds of 72, 70, 69 and 68 for a five-under-par, 279. She fired a three-under-par, 68, in the final round to move up the leaderboard. Shepherd hit 11 fairways, 12 greens and rolled 27 putts Sunday. She collected five of her six birdies in the final round on the back nine.
Sei Young Kim won the title with a 22-under-par, 262.
Shepherd competed in her fifth career professional event and has made the cut in three of those tournaments.
