DURHAM, N.C. - Freshman Michaela Reinhart, a member of the Duke women’s cross country team, garnered the first ACC Freshman of the Week honor of her college career, as announced by the conference office Wednesday.

Reinhart made a statement in her college debut at the Bull City Classic, crossing the finish line in second place while clocking a time of 13:47 over the four-kilometer race. The Lexington, Ky., native helped lead the Blue Devils to a first place finish at the meet, finishing ahead of ACC rival Wake Forest.

The Duke rookie placed herself near the front of the pack and never relinquished her position en route to averaging 5:33 miles over the course of the race. She finished less than a second behind top finisher and teammate Amanda Beach.

Duke returns to action Friday, Sept. 15, traveling to Cary, N.C., for the Adidas XC Invitational.
