DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women’s lacrosse head coach Kerstin Kimel announced Monday the addition of 10 student-athletes to the program ahead of the 2017-18 academic year.

The incoming class features student-athletes from eight different states and includes Catriona Barry of California, Katie Cronin of Connecticut, Mary Markwordt of Georgia, Chase Henriquez and Abby Landry of Massachusetts, Katie Cosgrove and Gigi Vasile of New York, Madison Dunk of North Carolina, Natalie Kahn of Pennsylvania and Charlotte North of Texas.

“We are very proud to welcome this exceptional group of freshmen to our Duke Lacrosse family,” Kimel said. “They are a great blend of fantastic students, athletes and personalities from eight different states which reflects our commitment to recruiting great lacrosse talent across the nation. I fully expect that several freshmen will be poised to contribute on the field immediately and our staff is very excited to work with each player to develop them to their fullest potential.

Most importantly, I am confident that each member of this class will contribute to the unique fabric of the Duke community and go on to represent and serve the university and our athletic program with tremendous pride, spirit and class.”

Take a closer look at the Blue Devils’ incoming freshman class:

Catriona Barry - Midfield - St. Ignatius College Preparatory [Calif.]
Barry was one of three Blue Devils in the class to take part in this summer’s Under Armour All-America Game. She heads to Durham as a four-time All-America selection and a three-time first team all-league pick. Barry was named her league’s Midfielder of the Year as a senior after totaling 53 goals, 26 assists and 72 draw controls.

Katie Cosgrove - Midfield – Churchville-Chili High School [N.Y.]
Cosgrove finished up her prep career at the Under Armour All-America Game after previously being selected to the Under Armour Underclass All-America Upstate team. She established school records in career goals (234) and points (311) at Churchville-Chili. The midfielder was also a three-year member of the All-Greater Rochester first team and a four-time all-county pick.

Katie Cronin - Midfield/Attack - Darien High School/Choate Rosemary Hall [Conn.]
A native of Darien, Conn., Cronin helped Darien capture four consecutive state and conference championships during her prep career. Her squad was also ranked in the top 20 nationally all four seasons. An All-American as a senior, Cronin twice garnered first team all-state and all-conference recognition and won her team’s draw control award in back-to-back seasons.

Madison Dunk - Attack/Midfield - Durham Academy [N.C.]
A local product, Dunk totaled 231 goals, 187 assists, 183 ground balls and 319 draw controls in five seasons at Durham Academy. She was twice named an All-American by US Lacrosse and was selected to the Under Armour Underclass All-America South team on three occasions. In addition to competing in golf and swimming, Dunk guided Durham Academy’s lacrosse team to state runner-up finishes three times during her prep career.

Chase Henriquez - Goalkeeper - Norwell High School [Mass.]
Henriquez anchored a Norwell team that won back-to-back state championships in 2015 and 2016. She made the game-winning save in the title game her junior year en route to being named to the Under Armour Underclass New England Team and the ESPN All-Boston Lacrosse Team. Hailing from Norwell, Mass., Henriquez will join the Blue Devils after totaling 455 saves during her prep career.

Natalie Kahn - Midfield - Great Valley High School [Pa.]
Kahn completed her prep career under the direction of former Blue Devil standout Kim Wenger at Great Valley. An All-America selection as a senior, Kahn also earned a spot on the Under Armour Underclass All-America Philadelphia team. She was also a three-time all-league honoree in the midfield, earning first team recognition in her final year.

Abby Landry - Midfield - Hingham High School [Mass.]
Landry comes to Durham from Hingham High School, where she was a US Lacrosse All-American as a senior. She was also named her league’s MVP in her final season, in addition to being selected to the Eastern Massachusetts Lacrosse All-Star first team. Landry hails from a family of collegiate lacrosse players, and her sister is currently a member of the program at Gettysburg College.

Mary Markwordt - Midfield/Attack - Blessed Trinity Catholic High School [Ga.]
A two-time state champion at Blessed Trinity Catholic, Markwordt garnered All-America recognition as a sophomore, junior and senior. She topped the 100-goal mark her final season, giving her 310 goals over her four years. The Marietta, Ga., native also totaled 557 draw controls during her prep career and was a four-time first team all-state selection.

Charlotte North - Midfield/Attack - Episcopal School of Dallas [Texas]
North comes to Durham after wrapping up her prep career in strong fashion, earning MVP honors at the Under Armour All-America Game this summer. In that outing, she notched three goals – including the gamewinner – to lead the South team to a 16-15 overtime victory. A three-sport athlete at the Episcopal School of Dallas, North was a two-time US Lacrosse All-American and led her team to conference and state titles as a senior.
