DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women’s lacrosse head coach Kerstin Kimel and the Blue Devil program welcomed 10 freshmen to Durham ahead of the 2018 campaign. Midfielder Katie Cosgrove joins the program from Churchville, N.Y.

Prior to Duke: Cosgrove finished up her prep career at the Under Armour All-America Game after previously being selected to the Under Armour Underclass All-America Upstate team. She established school records in career goals (234) and points (311) at Churchville-Chili. The midfielder was also a three-year member of the All-Greater Rochester first team and a four-time all-county pick.


What is your best lacrosse memory?

KC: My favorite memory from high school lacrosse was beating the two-time sectional champions. My favorite summer lacrosse memory was being selected and playing at Nike The Ride.


When did you start playing lacrosse?

KC: As a second grader, I started playing club lacrosse with a boys’ team in my hometown.


Who has had the largest impact on your life?

KC: My mom – she has been my biggest supporter and I wouldn’t be where I am without her.


Why did you choose Duke?

KC: I chose Duke because of its amazing academic and athletic programs. Duke has a beautiful campus with an outstanding environment. I connected well with all the coaches and players.


What are your goals for your collegiate career?

KC: To win a national championship at Duke.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I hope to have a happy, healthy life with a great job and loving family 


To be a part of the Duke women’s lacrosse program is … amazing!!! While I have always dreamed of playing lacrosse at the collegiate level, I never imagined I would be able to play for a top Division I program such as Duke.
