DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women’s lacrosse program is proud to support two important causes during upcoming contests at Koskinen Stadium.

The Blue Devils will host a Lace Up with LAX donation game during Monday’s 4 p.m. matchup with Davidson. Fans attending the contest are encouraged to bring a pair of new or gently used children’s shoes to be donated to locally to the Durham Rescue Mission organization. Donation boxes will be placed near the ticket booths at the Bassett Drive entrance to the stadium. All fans who bring a pair of shoes to donate will receive free admission to the contest.

Lace Up With LAX is dedicated to defining the legacy of lacrosse players off the field by working to provide children who are homeless a new pair of shoes and in turn, a step to a brighter future. Since the inception of the national non-profit organization in 2013, over 2,000 pairs of new shoes have been donated to homeless shelters across the globe.

Duke’s March 30 ACC contest against Syracuse at Koskinen will see the Blue Devils renew their collaboration with the Duke Cancer Institute (DCI). The squad will host its second annual “It Takes A Team - DukeWLax for DCI” game. The aim of the collaboration with DCI is to build awareness and raise funds for the organization.

According to its website, the Duke Cancer Institute “is a collaborative powerhouse—audacious, evolving, unconventional—at the center of a world-renowned university and medical center. We unleash the power of synchronous collaboration to create breakthroughs that rapidly transform the unimagined into the possible—to fuel a pace of discoveries and advances previously thought impossible.

“Established in 1973 as one of the original eight comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute, today our patients come for care from every county in North Carolina, every state in the nation and from around the world.”

All fundraising efforts stemming from the March 30 game will directly benefit the “It Takes A Team - DukeWLax for DCI” fund. Donations can be made here.
