DURHAM, N.C. – Sophomore attacker Charlotte North of the Duke women’s lacrosse team was named the Brine/US Lacrosse Player of the Week Monday following her performance in the Blue Devils’ overtime victory at Louisville.
North notched a hat trick for the seventh time in as many contests this season, accounting for seven of Duke’s 11 tallies. The Dallas, Texas native buried a pair of free position shots coming out of halftime and tied the contest at 10-10 with 58 seconds remaining in regulation. She came through in the clutch again in the second overtime period, collecting a ground ball off a missed shot and firing it into the back of the net for the game winner.
Showing no signs of slowing down in her sophomore season, North is pacing the Blue Devils with 36 goals and 15 assists. She entered the week leading the country in points per game (7.29) and ranked second nationally in goals per game (5.14).
North and the 15th-ranked Blue Devils travel to Penn Saturday for a noon contest on ESPN+.
