DURHAM, N.C. – Ninth-ranked Duke looks to bounce back after dropping its ACC opener in a narrow loss to Notre Dame last weekend, hosting Virginia Tech Saturday at 1 p.m. Saturday’s contest closes a two-game home stand by the Blue Devils, who play their next five games on the road.

Blue Devils Host Lace Up with LAX Game
• The Duke women’s lacrosse program is partnering with national non-profit organization Lace Up with LAX for Saturday’s contest against the Hokies. All fans are asked to bring a new pair of children’s shoes to be donated to the Durham Rescue Mission.

Three Tabbed to Tewaaraton Watch List
• Junior midfielder Maddie Crutchfield, junior attacker Kyra Harney and senior defender Maura Schwitter were among the 50 players named to the 2017 Tewaaraton Award women’s watch list Tuesday evening. The list features early contenders for the sport’s highest individual accolade.
• Duke has had at least two players on the Tewaaraton watch list each year since the award’s inception in 2001.
• Former Blue Devil Katie Chrest received the prestigious honor in 2005.

Jenner Turns in Career High Day Against Irish
• Sophomore Olivia Jenner led Duke’s offensive effort in a narrow 12-11 loss to No. 9 Notre Dame last weekend. Jenner tallied a career-high four goals and added three assists to finish with a career-best seven points. She collected a hat trick within the first 16 minutes of the contest, giving her two on the season and four for her career.
• Following the career-high performance, Jenner leads the Blue Devils in goals (12) and ranks second in assists (4) and points (16).
• The Blue Devils’ leader in the draw circle, Jenner is on pace to at least double her offensive output from a season ago. She posted 25 points in 20 contests last season and has 16 through five games this spring.

Defense Running Out the Shot Clock
• The Blue Devils have continued the program’s trend of tough defensive play in 2017, forcing opposing teams into shot clock violations six times already this season. Following a shot clock violation by the other team, Duke has scored the next goal five of the six times.
• The unit ranks fourth in the ACC and top-25 nationally in goals against average (8.80) and has surrendered double-digit goals only twice in five contests.

Lockwood Establishing Rhythm in Goal
• Following the graduation of four-year starting goalkeeper Kelsey Duryea, the Blue Devils featured a new starter in the net in the Feb. 5 season opener for the first time since March 2, 2013.
• A two-time All-American, Duryea concluded her Duke career ranked second in program history in saves (613) and goalkeeper wins (48).
• Sophomore Jamie Lockwood has started each of the Blue Devils’ five contests, totaling 41 saves to go along with a 8.79 goals against average and a .500 save percentage. She made a season-high 12 stops last weekend against No. 9 Notre Dame.
• In addition to Lockwood, the Blue Devils enter the spring with the services of junior Oralee Hespenheide and freshman Gabbe Cadoux, joined the goalkeeper group out of McDonogh School (Md.), where she was a three-year starter and Under Armour All-American.

Virginia Tech Series History
• Duke enters Saturday’s matchup with the Hokies having claimed all 19 of the previous meetings between the schools. The Blue Devils have won 12 regular season meetings in the series since Virginia Tech joined the ACC.
• Duke turned in a strong defensive performance and featured six different goal scorers in last year’s meeting, a 13-4 Blue Devil victory. Kyra Harney and Maddie Crutchfield both finished with hat tricks in the win.

Blue Devils vs. the Hokies
• Junior attacker Kyra Harney notched a career-high five goals in last year’s meeting with Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. In two career contests against the Hokies, she has logged eight goals, three assists, three ground balls and one caused turnover.
• Junior midfielder Maddie Crutchfield has totaled five goals, one assist, one ground ball, five draw controls and one caused turnover in two career games against Virginia Tech, while senior defender Maura Schwitter has two ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers in three meetings.
• Sophomore Olivia Jenner corralled six draws in the 2016 win over the Hokies.

Scouting the Hokies
• Virginia Tech has gotten out to a 6-2 start (1-0) ACC under the direction of first-year head coach John Sung, who took over the program after leading Winthrop for four seasons. Sung guided the squad to its first ACC regular season victory since 2013 with a Feb. 18 win over Boston College.
• The Hokies’ lone losses this spring have come at the hands of a pair of CAA schools in James Madison (9-6) and Elon (13-12 in OT).
• Virginia Tech entered the week pacing the ACC in goals against average (6.14) and was ranked third in goals per game (16.00). Junior attacker Tristan McGinley was third in the league in scoring (3.57 gpg) and fifth in draw controls per game (6.29). McGinely owns a team-high 32 points (26g, 6a) while Zan Beidenharn has 30 (20g, 10a) and Kristine Loscalzo 22 (20g, 2a).
• Starting goalkeeper has compiled an 8.25 goals against average and a .435 save percentage in eight contests.

Blue Devils vs. the ACC
• After dropping last weekend’s ACC opener to Notre Dame, Duke will be in search of its first conference win Saturday against the Hokies.
• Under the direction of head coach Kerstin Kimel, the Blue Devil program is 51-39 historically in regular season ACC action. Duke compiled a 4-3 ledger against conference opponents last season, including a 3-0 mark at home in Koskinen Stadium.
