DURHAM, N.C. – Rookie attacker Charlotte North was tabbed the ACC Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday for the second time this season following an eight-goal performance in a weekend win over Louisville.
After matching Duke’s single-game scoring record with seven tallies March 4 against Boston University, North broke the record with eight markers in Saturday’s 21-12 ACC victory over the Cardinals. The freshman from Dallas, Texas also added one assist to tie the program record for the most points in a game. Her nine points marked the most by a Blue Devil since Maddie Crutchfield recorded nine against Louisville March 12, 2016.
North notched her eight goals on eight shots and secured a hat trick 12 minutes into the Louisville contest. She also picked up three ground balls in the win.
With 33 goals through seven contests, North ranks fourth on the Blue Devils’ freshman scoring chart, trailing only Katie Chrest and Carolyn Davis (39) and Kelly Dirks (36). She also ranks third nationally and second in the ACC in goals per game (4.71).
North and the 20th-ranked Blue Devils continue a six-game home stand Saturday against No. 11 Penn in Koskinen Stadium. Opening draw is set for 12 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
