DURHAM, N.C.—Achieveing the dream of playing soccer at the next level begins for a pair of former Blue Devils this weekend as Jeremy Ebobisse and Robert Moewes take part in the Major League Soccer Player Combine. Ebobisse is set to play with Team Copa (blue) at the MLS Player Combine, while goalkeeper Moewes is the lone goalkeeper for Team Chaos (orange). Ebobisse is currently training with the U.S. U20 National Team and will likely join the MLS Combine Jan. 9.

Having already signing with Major League Soccer as a Generation Adidas product, Ebobisse is considered one of the top picks in the upcoming draft. A talented striker, Ebobisse played in 38 games during his two seasons with the Blue Devils, including 30 starts. He tallied seven points from two goals and three assists his rookie campaign and compiled seven goals and four assists for 18 points as a sophomore. He was an All-ACC third team pick in 2015 and voted to the NSCAA All-South Region second team.

Ebobisse has been a mainstay with the U-20 MNT, helping it to capture the NTC Invitational over the summer. He finished the three-game tournament held in California with three goals and an assist, including the game winner against Japan.

He secured his first career hat trick in a U.S. jersey, scoring three goals against Netherlands in a friendly in October. Ebobisse started two of the three games in Europe as the United States fell to Germany, England and Netherlands in the friendlies.

Most recently in a pair of friendlies with the United States he scored a goal in a 4-0 win over Costa Rica. He started the second friendly, ending in a 0-0 draw.

Moewes, Duke’s stalwart goalkeeper in 2016, was voted as the team’s Most Valuable Player after anchoring Duke’s defense in 2016. He played all but 28 minutes in goal and posted a 1.36 goals against average and a .736 save percentage. The Germany native ranked third in the ACC in saves with 3.94 and 67 overall.

In Duke’s upset win over No. 9 UCLA Moewes made a season-high eight saves, including five in the second half, to earn ACC Defensive Player of the Week as well as College Soccer News and Top Drawer Soccer Teams of the Week honors. He was equally as outstanding in Duke’s upset victory over No. 4 Notre Dame with seven saves, three of which came in the second overtime.

Moewes came to Durham after two seasons as the starting goalkeeper at Binghamton University. He was a two-time America East Goalkeeper of the Year and garnered NSCAA All-Region first team honors in 2014.
