Blue Devils Begin Quest for PDL Title

DURHAM, N.C.—Eight current men’s soccer Blue Devils have spent their summers on PDL (Premier Development League) rosters as they compete for a league title. Three have their teams in the playoffs, which kick off Friday, July 20.

Below is a quick update on our Blue Devils in the PDL with the Duke season just around the corner. The Lansing United, Colorado Rapid and Black Rock FC all will start playoff action Friday.

Daniel Wright | Lansing United | 7-2-5

  • Lansing United finished second in its division and will play Des Moines Menace in the opening round of the playoffs
  • Has played in nine games and for 379 minutes
  • Wright owns a goal and an assist, scoring his goal June 24 in a 2-2 draw with West Virginia Chaos

 

Will Pulisic | Colorado Rapids U23 | 8-2-4

  • Colorado Rapids won the Mountain Division of the Western Conference to earn the top seed in the Western Conference playoffs. They will play Calgary Foothills in the playoff opener.
  • Pulisic has played in five games, going 4-0-1 in those games
  • Owns 24 saves, a .857 save percentage and a 0.790 save percentage
  • Made a season-high eight saves in 6-0 shutout win over Ogden City SC

 

Stephen O’Connell | Black Rock FC U23 | 9-2-3

  • Black Rock FC won the Northeast Division of the Eastern Conference with a 9-2-3 record
  • The team matches up against New York Red Bulls in the playoffs.
  • O’Connell has played in nine games for a total of 650 minutes
  • He scored a goal in a narrow 4-3 setback to AC Connecticut and had an assist in a 2-1 win over Western Mass Pioneers

 

Colby Agu | IMG Academy | 6-6-2

  • IMG Academy finished fourth in the Southeast Division of the Southern Conference
  • Agu played in 10 games and ranked second on the team with seven points from three goals and an assist
  • Played 551 minutes overall and team went 5-4-1 in 10 games he played

 

Jack Doran and Wilhelm Jacques | Boston Bolts U23 | 5-6-3

  • Boston Bolts took fourth in the Northeast Division of the Eastern Conference
  • Doran played in six games for 402, Jacques saw 105 minutes overall in two games

 

Suniel Veerakone | Michigan Bucks | 6-4-4

  • Michigan Bucks finished fourth in Great Lakes Division of Eastern Conference
  • Veerakone saw action in seven games and a total of 314 minutes
  • Registered an assist in 6-0 win over Derby City Rovers

 

Max Moser | Tobacco Road FC | 3-7-4

  • Tobacco Road FC finished fifth in the South Atlantic Division
  • Moser played in four games and 302 minutes overall
