AKRON, Ohio—Duke University redshirt junior Mitch Finesilver turned in a fantastic weekend with a third-place finish at University Nationals at Louis and Freda Stile Athletic Field House on the campus of University of Akron. Finesilver took third in freestyle at 70 kilograms.

Finesilver, after suffering a narrow 4-0 setback in his opening match, rattled off nine straight victories to land on the podium in third. Four of his nine consecutive wins were by technical fall, including a 10-0 triumph that pushed him into the consolation semifinal and secured a place for the Colorado native. He is the third Blue Devil in program history to place in the prestigious national tournament.

In the consolation semifinal, Mitch took a 2-1 lead in the first period and was able to hold off any threats by Max Thomsen and advanced to the consolation title bout against UNC rival Heilmann. The two-time NCAA qualifier controlled the match against Heilmann, winning 8-5 to take third.

Alec Schenk turned a strong showing in 86 kg at the tournament, advancing to the consolation round of 16 before losing to Virginia's Chance McClure 5-3. Two of the three straight wins were by technical fall.
