DURHAM, N.C.—The ACC has released the seeds and brackets for the upcoming ACC Championships March 3 in Chapel Hill. A pair of Blue Devils – Jacob Kasper and Mitch Finesilver – earned byes as the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in their respective weight classes.

First-round matches get underway in Carmichael Arena on the campus of University of North Carolina Saturday at 11 a.m. The semifinal matches will begin at 1 p.m.

At 125, Thayer Atkins will face No. 4 seed LJ Bentley of Pittsburgh. Bentley won the regular season matchup in a narrow 4-2 decision and is 4-0 against Atkins overall, including a 4-2 overtime win at the 2017 ACC Championships. Atkins looks to avenge the setbacks, which have been decided by a combined 11 points.

Josh Finesilver, looking for one of the five automatic bids at 133, will wrestle NC State’s Tariq Wilson. The Wolfpack redshirt freshman bested Josh in a first period fall during the regular season dual. At 141, rookie Jeremiah Reitz will see Pitt’s Nick Zanetta again after a hard-fought 4-1 loss just a few weeks ago.

Brandon Leynaud and Zach Finesilver are both seeded sixth at 149 and 165 and will take on the No. 3 seeds Ryan Blees of Virginia Tech and Brian Hamann of NC State, respectively. Seeded third at 174, Matt Finesilver will go up against Tommy O’Brien of Pitt after posting a 12-3 major decision during the regular season bout. A win in the opening round would pit Matt in a thrilling rematch with Ethan Ramos of North Carolina.

Kaden Russell is sixth at 184 and Alec Schenk fifth at 197. Russell will see North Carolina’s Chip Ness again, while Schenk will face Kellan Stout of Pitt. Stout edged Schenk 4-2 during the regular season, while Ness was about to get a second-period fall against Russell.

Mitch and Kasper will await the result between the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds to set up their semifinal matches. Mitch could face either Kennedy Monday of UNC or Solomon Chishko of Virginia Tech. He edged Monday 4-0 but did not face Chishko during the regular season.

Kasper is set to match up against the winner between Ryan Solomon and Andrew Dunn. He had little problem with either, beating Solomon 5-1 and Dunn 12-0.

Every match will be carried on ACC Network Extra and aired on the WatchESPN platform. Stay tuned for live updates on Twitter throughout the championships as NCAA spots are earned. The finals get underway at 7 p.m.
