DURHAM, N.C.—Monday morning’s Duke wrestling practice will be a unique one for sure as the Blue Devils hit the mats for an outdoor session with the iconic Duke Chapel featuring as the backdrop. The practice begins at approximately 8:15 and the team will be outside until 10 a.m.
Coming off of its best finish at the NCAA Championships in program history, Duke is excited to welcome FloWrestling to campus and put on a public outdoor practice in such a cool venue. Students, faculty and staff walking through campus en route to classes or their offices will have the opportunity to take in at least a few minutes, meet the wrestlers and learn about the sport.
The team will have small giveaways during the practice session. In addition, people can expect to see assistant coaches Brandon Nelsen and Jacob Kasper to get on the mat with the current Blue Devils. Two-time All-American Kasper recently returned to the staff after his stellar wrestling career.
The Blue Devils are led by a trio of captains Alec Schenk, Zach Finesilver and Mitch Finesilver. Zach and Mitch are just half of the Finesilver four – two sets of twin brothers- and are returning NCAA qualifiers. Schenk is looking to make his debut at the NCAA Championships this spring.
Duke will host its first home dual in January so stay tuned for the schedule. The Blue Devils wrestle in Historic Cameron Indoor Stadium, allowing the fans and up close look at live action on the mat.
