DURHAM, N.C. – Duke freshman Michael Degli Obizzi opened his Atlantic Coast Conference career in impressive fashion last week, earning a major decision victory in his first league match against N.C. State. For his efforts, Degli Obizzi was named the ACC Wrestler of the Week, ACC officials announced Monday. 

Degli Obizzi, a native of Newark, Del., opened last week’s dual meet against N.C. State by claiming a 13-5 major decision victory over the Wolfpack’s Jeff Breese at 133 pounds. The Blue Devils could not hold on to the early 4-0 lead, falling to the Wolfpack, 26-7. 

The Duke wrestling team will return to action at UNC Greensboro on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m.
