NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Duke track & field programs rounded out the final day of the ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships in Notre Dame, Ind., at the Loftus Sports Center on Saturday. Overall, the Blue Devils combined for one ACC title and nine All-ACC accolades over the course of the three-day event.

The Duke women finished the meet sixth out of 15 teams with 44.5 points, while the Blue Devil men took 13th out of 15 with 14 points. Miami topped the women’s leaderboard (113) followed by Clemson (98), Florida State (74), Louisville (57.5) and Notre Dame (48) to round out the top five. Virginia Tech scored 109 points to claim the men’s title, followed by Virginia in second with 98, Florida State in third with 86, Clemson (76) finished fourth and Syracuse (47) captured fifth.

“Overall, really excellent meet in terms of the number of marks we produced that rank nationally,” said head coach Norm Ogilvie. “The ACC is a terrific track & field conference. Our women competed well, and our men, quite frankly, also did a great job. Madeline Kopp had an outstanding performance in the 800m and in the 4x400m relay and she currently sits 15th nationally in the 800m, so hopefully she has a good shot of qualifying for the NCAAs in a couple weeks. Madison Heath also had a great performance yesterday in the women’s pole vault and we think she will do very well at nationals if she qualifies. We had a number of really, really good marks and performances this weekend.”

Following a 2:06.82 performance in yesterday’s preliminaries, senior Madeline Kopp claimed the silver medal in the women’s 800 to highlight the day for Duke and earn eight team points, running a 2:04.60 to finish second. Kopp has continued to be a force on the track this year as she transitioned to the 800m for the first time and currently ranks 15th nationally in this event.

Kopp also ran the leadoff leg of the second-place finishing 4x400m relay, along with MacKenzie Kerr, Sydnei Murphy and Maddy Price. These members of the sprint flock clocked in at 3:36.25 which places them at No. 2 Duke all-time and allowed them to pick up first team All-ACC honors.

Price closed out the 4x400m relay in a time of 52.8 after running the second-fastest time in Duke history in the 400m in 53.85.

In the men’s relay, Brett Bofinger, Michal Filipczak, Dylan Murphy and Kyle Francis turned in the second-fastest time in school history in a combined time of 3:14.13. Bofinger paced the squad with a 48.20 split, followed by Filipczak’s fastest split of 47.50. Murphy ran third in 48.80 and Francis anchored in 49.00.

Senior Connor Hall has had a stellar season and garnered eighth today in the men’s pole vault after clearing 16-8.75 (5.10). Fellow vaulter, freshman Esteban Suarez secured a personal-best 15-11.00 (4.85) mark.

Gabrielle Richichi was the lone competitor for the Blue Devils in the women’s 3,000m and clocked in a personal-best time of 9:41.22. In field events, Domonique Panton and Jack Maher also saw successful marks their respective events. Panton tied her best leap in the triple jump with 39-3.75 (11.98) and Maher tossed the implement 50-10.75 (15.51) for a season-best mark.

Next up, qualifying members of the Duke track & field teams will conclude the indoor season by traveling to College Station, Texas, for the NCAA Indoor Championships March 10-11.
