OSTRAVA, Czech Republic – After posting a fourth-place finish in the 400m at the Brussels Diamond League Meet a week ago, former Duke track and field standout Steven Solomon is set to compete this weekend in the IAAF Continental Cup for the final time this season, representing the Asia-Pacific team.
Solomon will compete in the mixed 4x400m relay—a new addition to the IAAF Continental Cup—as part of an all-Australian quartet, which will feature two female competitors. Along with the Asia-Pacific team, the mixed relay will be comprised of teams from America, Europe and Africa.
In his lone year for the Blue Devils, Solomon enjoyed a historic campaign in both the 2017 indoor and outdoor seasons. He closed out his Duke career as the school’s record holder in the indoor 400m, outdoor 400m and indoor 600m, while also being a part of the outdoor sprint medley relay team that set a school record.
The IAAF Continental Cup Ostrava 2018 gets underway on Saturday, September 8, and will take place in the eastern Czech city of Ostrava and will conclude on Sunday. Teams are free to select and change their running order up until race time, while also being able to pick any team members they wish. Fans can catch all of the action with the IAAF’s YouTube channel for a live stream, or by following any of the IAAF’s social media accounts.
