DURHAM, N.C. – Preparing to officially open the 2017-2018 campaign with next weekend’s Rod Myers Invitational, the Duke men’s golf team will begin the season ranked No. 24 in the nation.
Head coach Jamie Green will welcome back a slate of talent that helped last year’s team reach the National Championship in Sugar Grove, Ill., highlighted by 2017 All-ACC honorees junior Alex Smalley and freshman Chandler Eaton.
New faces for the program will include Adrien Pendariès, Evan Katz and Qi Wen Wong.
Finishing second in last year’s Baton Rouge NCAA Regional to host LSU, the Blue Devils will open up the season one spot behind the Tigers, who come in at No. 23.
Even with graduating four members of the team including National Championship participant Matt Oshrine, Duke will be primed for another successful year with the leadership of a new group of seniors which include Jake Shuman, Ben Silverman and Adam Wood.
Duke will host their first annual Blue Devil Cup this weekend, an alumni event that will feature a number of notable stars that have donned the blue and white in years past.
Action for the Blue Devil Cup will begin Friday afternoon, with tee times set for 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
