DURHAM, N.C. – After jumping up eleven spots to No. 13 in the latest Golfweek national rankings, the Duke men’s golf team is prepared to build off of their early success in this weekend’s Nike Collegiate Inviational.
The tournament will be held at the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club (par 72, 7,017 yards) in Portland, Oregon, with action starting on Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. (PST) and concluding on Tuesday afternoon.
With it being a Nike event, all teams participating will be Nike schools. Washington, Oregon, Stanford, Southern California, Arizona, Oklahoma, Texas, Vanderbilt, Florida, Ohio State, Clemson, Wake Forest, Georgia and TCU will round out the field, in addition to Duke.
Sophomore Chandler Eaton takes the top spot for Duke’s lineup this weekend, having finished third in the season-opening Rod Myers Invitational. The Alpharetta, Ga. native put together three consecutive rounds of 69 (-3) en route to a 207 (-9) for the event. As of September 28, Eaton was listed by Golfweek as the No. 14 golfer in collegiate golf.
Slated at No. 2, Alex Smalley will enter the tournament having finished the Rod Myers Invitational tied for fourth after shooting a 208 (-8). Concluding that event with a spectacular round of 66 (-6) that featured zero bogeys, the junior is riding a wave of momentum in the early going of his 2017-2018 campaign as he is currently ranked No. 18 by Golfweek.
Senior Jake Shuman will hold down No. 3 for the Blue Devils after performing impressively in the Rod Myers Invitational, an event he has consistently played well in for the blue and white. The Needham, Mass. local is coming off of a 209 (-7) that was capped by a four-under 68.
Freshman Adrien Pendaries is set to participate in his first tournament as part of the five-man lineup after his individual effort in the Rod Myers Invitational, where he shot a 215 (-1) for the weekend.
Coming in at No. 5 for Duke will be senior Adam Wood, who was under par in his final round at the Rod Myers Invitational.

In addition to the program’s participation in the Nike Collegiate Invitational in Portland, Oregon, Jamie Green has elected to send five Blue Devils to the Hummingbird Intercollegiate in Sapphire, North Carolina.
The tournament, hosted by the Country Club of Sapphire Valley (par 71, 6,757 yards), will see play from freshman Evan Katz, sophomore Harrison Taee, senior Ben Silverman, sophomore Steven DiLisio and junior Shrish Dwivedi.
