ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. -- Former Duke golfer Wes Roach became the Blue Devils most recent PGA Tour card holder, as Roach’s finish in the top 25 of the Web.com Tour money list from this season secured his spot on the PGA Tour for next season.
Roach clinched his card in dramatic fashion with an eagle on the 18th hole of Sunday’s final round of the Web.com Tour Championship. That closing eagle was the boost Roach needed to finish the Web.com season among the 25 leading money winners.
“Very emotional, and very, very happy to be sitting here,” said Roach on the Golf Channel following the acceptance of his PGA Tour card. “To be sitting here with my family and knowing that we’re going to the PGA Tour again is just very exciting.”
Roach carded a five-under par 65 on Sunday, finishing the Web.com Tour Championship in a tie for 17th place at 16-under par. He entered the weekend 28th on the Web.com Tour money list and jumped into the top 25 thanks to his strong finish.
The 2011 Duke graduate has played 44 events on the PGA Tour, last appearing on Tour in August 2016. Roach joins three other Blue Devils on the PGA Tour for next season in Kevin Streelman, Ryan Blaum and Adam Long.
