WAILUA, Hawai'i -- The No. 2 Duke men’s golf team resumes its 2018-19 schedule this weekend, as a 20-team field converges on the Wailua Golf Course in Wailua, Hawai'i, for the John Burns Intercollegiate.
The Blue Devils have not competed as a team since October’s strong showing at the East Lake Cup, where Duke knocked off top-ranked Oklahoma State in match play, and claimed the title in the stroke play portion of the competition.
The East Lake Cup was one of three stroke-play event wins for Duke, which also claimed the Louisville Cardinal Challenge and the Nike Collegiate Invitational in the fall.
Junior Chandler Eaton will lead the Blue Devils into this weekend’s tournament in Hawai'i, which begins Thursday on the par-72, 6,991-yard course. The teams are scheduled for 18 holes of play Thursday, Friday and Saturday on the Kauai Island.
Also in the Blue Devils’ lineup this weekend is senior Alex Smalley, sophomore Evan Katz, junior Adrien Pendaries and junior Steven DiLisio. Senior Shrish Dwivedi will play as an individual. Duke tees it up tomorrow at 8 a.m. HT (1 p.m. ET).
The field includes four Top 25 teams – No. 2 Duke, No. 14 Arizona State, No. 20 Texas A&M and No. 23 BYU, along with Hawai'i, Arizona, UTEP, New Mexico, UC Santa Barbara, Fresno State, Virginia, Long Beach State, Washington State, St. Mary’s (Calif.), Grand Canyon, CSU-Northridge, UNLV, North Carolina, Northern Colorado and UC Irvine.
