DURHAM, N.C. -- Primed for their final tournament of the fall, the No. 23 Duke men’s golf team will travel to Greensboro, N.C. on Friday for the Grandover Collegiate on Saturday.

The two-day event will feature two rounds on Saturday and one on Sunday, all taking place at the East Course (par 72, 7,245 yards), the home of the UNC Greensboro Spartans.

The field, in addition to Duke, includes UNC Greensboro, North Carolina, Kansas State, Georgia State, Loyola (Md.), N.C. State, Northwestern, VCU and Virginia Tech.

36 holes of golf will begin Saturday morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, followed Sunday with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.

Head coach Jamie Green has elected to put forth all eleven Blue Devils into competition, entering a five-man lineup and six individuals.

Freshman Evan Katz will get his first No. 1 nod in team competition, entering the weekend with a team-best 69.33 stroke average. His best fall finish to date came in the form of a second-place finish at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate in Sapphire, N.C. where he posted rounds of 70, 67 and 67 to finish the event nine under.

After notching a top-five finish in last weekend’s Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, junior Alex Smalley will take the No. 2 spot in the lineup. Smalley posted the team’s lowest round of 18 last Saturday, shooting a 65 (-7) en route to a 205 (-11) effort for the tournament. He also owns the team’s second lowest scoring average, currently sitting at 70.22.

Sophomore Chandler Eaton returns looking to build off last weekend’s success as well, where he finished just outside the top 10 with a five-under 211. The Alpharetta, Ga. native boasts a 70.33 stroke average and has the most under par rounds on the team with six.

Looking for his first top 5 and second top 10 finish of the season, senior Jake Shuman will come in at No. 4 for the Blue Devils. Shuman has generated a 71.67 stroke average through three tournaments thus far, and has had all but one of his rounds count in competition this fall.

Senior Adam Wood will hold down the No. 5 spot this weekend, bringing with him a 72.22 stroke average and a low 18 of 66. Wood has tallied a top 10 finish already this season, finishing with a share of tenth at the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational which featured a stacked field that including schools such as Wake Forest, Oklahoma and Florida.

Representing the Duke program as individuals will be Ben Silverman, Adriend Pendaries, Harrison Taee, Steven DiLisio, Shrish Dwivedi and freshman Qi wen Wong, who will be playing in his first tournament as a Blue Devil.
