DURHAM, N.C. – With the National Letter of Intent early signing period complete, the Duke men’s golf team bolstered itself with the addition of Raleigh, N.C. native Quinn Riley.

Riley, who currently attends Ravenscroft School, secured the title of 2017 Carolinas Golf Association North Carolina Junior Champion in addition to winning the North Carolina Trusted Choice Big I Championship and the CGA 50th North Carolina Junior Boys Championship.

A five-time letterwinner for the Ravens, Riley has garnered a collection of honors at Ravenscroft, including MVP in 2015 and 2016, Co-Captain for 2016 and 2017, and being named to the News & Observer All-Metro Team in 2017.

Riley currently possesses 12 Top-5 finishes and 14 Top-10 finishes which only complements his success in the classroom.

Riley’s 4.2 GPA has enabled his placement in the National Honor Society, as well as on the American Junior Golf Association’s 2016 Transamerica Scholastic Honor Roll, which recognizes junior golfers with a Top-10 finish and a GPA of 3.5+.

Outside of golf and academics, Riley is highly invested in his community, volunteering with the Wake County Special Olympics, Wake County Habitat for Humanity, and First Tee, where he taught core values and life skills through golf.

Duke men’s golf head coach Jamie Green spoke to the impending arrival of Quinn, expressing his excitement to add such a solid student-athlete to the program.

“Quinn is one of those people that everyone wants to be around,” Green said. “Especially with our current team’s chemistry, they were drawn to him and thankfully he was drawn to us.”

Also addressing Quinn’s mechanics and mentality, Green recognizes the talent that his signee will be bringing with him to Duke next year.

“Quinn has worked very hard over many years to develop one of the most beautiful and technically-sound golf swings in all of junior golf, and he has been scoring well over the last year thanks to a more mature mindset in competition,” noted Green. “Everyone involved in our program is excited that he’ll be here soon.”
