DURHAM, N.C. – The 12th-ranked Duke women’s golf team will travel to Hilton Head Island, S.C., to compete in the Sixth Annual Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, which will be played on the 6,160-yard, Par 71 Pete Dye Course at Long Cove Club from March 3-5.
Competing along with the Blue Devils this weekend will be Alabama (5), Arkansas (13), Arizona State (8), Auburn, Baylor (22), Furman (6), Georgia (7), LSU, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Oklahoma State (15), South Carolina (11), Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wake Forest (12).
The tournament will feature 18 holes each day with tee times starting at 8:30 a.m.
Duke will feature a lineup of senior Sandy Choi, junior Leona Maguire, junior Lisa Maguire, junior Gurbani Singh and freshman Ana Belac. Reigning NCAA Individual Champion Virginia Elena Carta will not travel as she recently had her tonsils removed.
The Blue Devils are two-time team champions of the event winning titles in 2014 and 2015. Leona Maguire, a native of Cavan, Ireland, owns the 18-hole tournament record of 65, which she carded in 2015. Maguire won the 2015 individual title, after carding a six-under-par ledger and winning in a playoff. She is currently ranked No. 2 nationally in the latest Golfweek Individual rankings.
Duke recently opened the spring season in the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge with a third place finish, while Leona Maguire tied for first overall.
