DURHAM, N.C. – For the first time since 2005, the fifth-ranked Duke women’s golf team will compete in the Evans Derby Experience March 18-20 in Auburn, Ala. The tournament will be played at the 6,280-yard, par 72 Auburn University Club.
Competing along with the Blue Devils will be Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Michigan, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Wake Forest. In the latest Golfweek team rankings, Alabama (1), Arkansas (3), Duke (5), South Carolina (8), Florida (12) and Wake Forest (20) are listed in the top 20.
The field includes 11 of the top 20 golfers in the latest Golfweek Individual rankings.
Duke will field a lineup that includes senior Leona Maguire, senior Lisa Maguire, sophomore Ana Belac, freshman Jaravee Boonchant and freshman Miranda Wang. Junior Virginia Elena Carta will compete as an individual as she is recovering from an injury.
After winning three of four tournaments in the fall, the Blue Devils have opened the spring placing eighth and fourth in the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge and the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, respectively. Boonchant, a product of Bangkok, Thailand, is coming off a tied for sixth finish at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate and owns three top 10 finishes six tournaments as a rookie.
Tee times will kick off Sunday and Monday at 9:30 a.m., (ET) off holes No. 1 and No. 10 and then Tuesday will have a shotgun start at 9 a.m. (ET).
