DURHAM, N.C. – For the second time this week, the Duke women’s golf program received a top five national ranking as the Blue Devils were tabbed No. 5 in the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) preseason top 25.

UCLA holds the top slot in the preseason poll as the Bruins received nine first place votes and 521 points. Alabama garnered the most first place votes with 12, but finished one point shy in points and is at No. 2. Rounding out the top 10 was Arkansas, Stanford, Duke, Southern California, Arizona, Texas, South Carolina and Arizona State.

Duke returns five letterwinners from a year ago including Third Team All-America Jaravee Boonchant along with Honorable Mention All-America selections Ana Belac and Miranda Wang. The 2016 NCAA Individual Champion Virginia Elena Carta and sophomore Hannah O’Sullivan also return for the Blue Devils. Duke boasts a roster of six golfers in 2018-19 with the addition of talented freshman Gina Kim, who hails from Chapel Hill, N.C.

The Golfweek preseason national rankings were released earlier in the week with Duke earning a No. 4 listing. Boonchant, Belac and Kim each were selected preseason All-America as well.

The Blue Devils will open the 2018-19 campaign at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate Sept. 17-19 in Lake Elmo, Minn.
