DURHAM, N.C. – As the Duke women’s golf team heads to Fayetteville, Ark., for the NCAA Championship, Blue Devil sophomore Jaravee Boonchant has been selected one of 10 watch list candidates for the 2018-19 PING Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Player of the Year award, as announced Tuesday afternoon.

Along with Boonchant on the list include Jennifer Chang (Southern California), Maria Fassi (Arkansas), Frida Kinhult (Florida State), Jennifer Kupcho (Wake Forest), Andrea Lee (Stanford), Olivia Mehaffey (Arizona State), Emilia Migliaccio (Wake Forest), Patty Tavatanakit (UCLA) and Albane Valenzuela (Stanford).

A native of Bangkok, Thailand, Boonchant is coming off back-to-back top four performances at the ACC Championship and NCAA Auburn Regional. She has collected a team-best 72.00 stroke average to go along with three top five, six top 10 and seven top 20 finishes on the season. Boonchant is currently ranked No. 4 nationally in the individual ledger.

Boonchant owns a team-high 16 rounds of even or under par and 329 birdies on the season, while counting 26-of-27 rounds. In three out of the last four tournaments, Boonchant has finished in the top four.

The PING WGCA Player of the Year Award is awarded annually to the best player in Division I women’s golf. The top 60 players from the Golfstat and Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings are considered. Each player must complete a minimum of 15 rounds during the competitive year including NCAA Regional Championships.

Duke will tee off beginning at 12:55 p.m. (ET) Friday, May 17 in the first round of the NCAA Championship at The Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.
