DURHAM, N.C. – Coming off placing tied second at the NCAA Madison Regional Wednesday, Duke University senior Leona Maguire has moved into fifth in the final The ANNIKA Award presented by 3M watch list, as announced Thursday.
Maguire, a two-time ANNIKA Award winner in 2015 and 2017, turned in rounds of 65 and 69 over the final two days of the regional and finished with an eight-under-par, 208, ledger to finish two shots off the lead. On the season, Maguire has collected a 70.40 stroke average to go along with three victories and nine top 10 finishes. She owns 22 rounds of even or under par on the year and 10 rounds in the 60s.
Holding the top slot is Maria Fassi of Arkansas with Lilia Vu (UCLA), Patty Tavatanakit (UCLA), Lauren Stephenson (Alabama) and Maguire rounding out the top five.
A product of Cavan, Ireland, Maguire’s 70.40 stroke average is the second-lowest in Duke history just behind her 70.29 a year ago. She is currently ranked No. 8 in the latest Golfweek individual rankings heading into the NCAA Championship May 18-23 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla.
The winner of the ANNIKA Award will be announced live on Golf Central on Wednesday, June 6 at 6:30pm (ET).
