DURHAM, N.C. – The summer golf tour for Duke incoming freshman Erica Shepherd continues this week as the two-time United States Golf Association (USGA) champion has accepted a sponsor’s exemption for the LPGA Marathon Classic, which will be played July 10-14 at the Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio.

The tournament will feature 144 golfers competing over 72 holes of action. Following 36 holes, the field will be cut to the top 70 and ties. The course will be playing par 6,561 yards at par 71.

Shepherd won her second USGA Championship in 2019 as she teamed with future Blue Devil Megan Furtney to win the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship. She also won the 2017 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship. Shepherd, who hails from Greenwood, Ind., will see action in her fifth career professional event as she played in the 2016 and 2018 U.S. Women’s Open as well as the LPGA Indy Women In Tech Championship in 2017 and 2018.

Fans can follow the action via Golf Channel July 11-12 from 7:30-9:30 p.m., and July 13-14 from 6-8 p.m. All play will be tape delayed.

Shepherd will tee off Thursday at 9:05 a.m. and Friday at 2:05 p.m., along with Allie White and Simin Feng. Recent Duke graduate Virginia Elena Carta will also compete this week as an amateur along with Shepherd.
