AUSTIN, TEXAS-  Duke University and freshman Amanda Blumenherst each grabbed titles on Sunday as the Blue Devil women’s golf team won the 2006 Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational at the 6,353-Yard, Par 72 University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas.

Duke carded a 54-hole total of 907 to win the team title by nine strokes, while Blumenherst posted a two-over-par, 218, to win the individual title by six strokes.

Rounding out the top-10 teams were Texas A&M (916), Purdue (926), Oklahoma State (933), TCU (940), Southern Methodist (941), Texas (309), Oklahoma (944), North Carolina (947) and Baylor (952).  The victory by Duke broke a three-tournament streak of finishing below first.

Blumenherst, a native of Scottsdale, Ariz., earned her second tournament victory of the season as she registered a Sunday-best even-par round of 72.  The No. 1 ranked golfer in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance  began the day with a birdie on the par-three second hole but ended up suffering bogies on four of her next six holes.  Blumenherst settled down to play her final 10 holes at three-under-par.  Her other victory came in the season opener at the Mason Rudolph Championship.

Senior Liz Janangelo collected a fifth place finish with a total of 226, which was her best placement since she won the Stanford Pepsi Intercollegiate in October.  A West Hartford, Conn., native, Janangelo finished the weekend with a 77 as she managed to post one birdie on the day.

Collecting her second-best finish of the season, sophomore Jennifer Pandolfi tied for 16th as she totaled three-day ledger of 234.  Pandolfi, who is from Navarre, Fla., concluded the tournament with a 77 on the final day.

Anna Grzebien and Jennie Lee each finished tied for 22nd with a 236 for the Blue Devils.

Duke will next play in the Bryan National Collegiate from March 31 through April 2 in Browns Summitt, N.C.
