DURHAM, N.C. – Head coach Jolene Nagel and the Duke volleyball program are pleased to announce the addition of Lauren Cline to the 2019 Blue Devil roster. A graduate student transfer from the University of Pacific, Cline is a middle blocker who has one year of eligibility remaining.

“We are thrilled to have graduate student Lauren Cline join us for her fifth year,” Nagel said. “She brings with her great experience from her days at Pacific, along with a maturity and a savviness of a graduate student as well. Lauren’s blocking and attacking skills, where she competed in the West Coast Conference, will benefit us and help us run fast. Her competitiveness will make an impact immediately.”

A three-year letterwinner at Pacific, Cline redshirted the 2017 season due to injury before returning to the court for her redshirt junior campaign last season. In 2018, the Bakersfield, Calif., native appeared in all 29 matches and came up with 173 kills and 70 total blocks. She reached a season-high of 10 kills twice as Pacific faced New Mexico State on August 24th and Arizona State on August 25th.

As a sophomore, Cline appeared in 14 matches, notching 45 total kills in a total of 40 sets for the season. In her first year with the Tigers, she saw action in seven contests, making two starts. Cline closed out her career with a total of 223 total kills across her three seasons in Stockton.

Cline was named to the West Coast Conference Beach Volleyball All-Academic Team as an honorable mention following the 2018 campaign. She graduated in May with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and Entrepreneurship.
