DURHAM, N.C. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recently announced Duke as one of 15 host sites for the 2019 ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The ITA held its draft for the event on Thursday, resulting in the Blue Devils being joined by Nebraska, Old Dominion and Gonzaga.
As host, the fourth-ranked Duke women’s team garnered the top seed for the region with No. 46 Nebraska as the second seed, No. 48 Old Dominion as the third seed and No. 64 Gonzaga as the fourth seed.
The matches, set to occur in Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center, are scheduled to take place January 26-27, 2019. The winner of each campus site advances to the 2019 ITA National Team Indoor Championships February 8-11, hosted by the University of Washington
Last season, Duke reached the ITA National Team Indoor Championships with back-to-back wins against Fresno and Washington during the 2018 ITA Kick-Off Weekend competition. The Blue Devils did not drop a match against Fresno State, winning 4-0, before defeating Washington, 4-2, to earn a spot in the national event.
