Blue Devils Make Clean Sweep in Main Draw Singles

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - The Duke women's tennis team turned in a strong start in the main draw at the 2018 Riviera/ITA All-American Championship as the Blue Devils swept all three singles matches.  

Junior Meible Chi, sophomore Kelly Chen and freshman Maria Mateas all picked up wins in the Round of 32 to advance to the main draw Round of 16. Chi and Chen won in straight sets while Mateas bounced back from losing the second set to take the final, 6-0.

Duke is the lone program with three singles players in the Round of 16. 

In Friday's Round of 16, Chi takes on Vanderbilt's Fernanda Contreras, Chen goes up against Oklahoma State's Katarina Stresnakova and Mateas faces North Carolina's Alexa Graham.
