DURHAM, N.C. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recently announced Duke as one of 15 host sites for the 2020 ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The ITA held its draft for the event on Wednesday, resulting in the Blue Devils welcoming Mississippi State, Tulsa and Kansas State to Durham.
As the host school, the fourth-ranked Duke women’s team garnered the top seed for the region with No. 50 Mississippi State as the second seed, No. 56 Tulsa as the third seed and No. 60 Kansas State as the fourth seed.
The matches, set to occur in Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center, are scheduled to take place January 25-26, 2020. The winner of each campus site advances to the 2020 ITA National Team Indoor Championships February 7-10, hosted by the University of Illinois.
Last season, Duke reached the ITA National Team Indoor Semifinals with wins over Gonzaga (4-0) and Old Dominion (4-0) in Durham. In Seattle, the Blue Devils defeated No. 16 Ohio State (4-3) and No. 7 Pepperdine (4-1) before they fell to No. 3 North Carolina (4-0) in the semis.
