DURHAM, N.C. - Duke has been selected to host two matches as part of the 2009 ITA National Team Indoor Championships on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, as was announced by the ITA on Wednesday.
Following Wednesday's draft, it was determined that four teams will compete at 15 sites from Jan. 30-Feb. 1, 2009. First round winners and losers face each other in the second round with the 15 teams that win both matches advancing to ITA National Team Indoor Championships, played two weeks later, Feb. 13-16, at the University of Wisconsin.
As the home team and No. 1 seed, Duke will face the No. 4 seed, while the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds are set to square off in the second match. The Blue Devils will face Virginia Commonwealth on Jan. 31 either at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. with second-seeded South Carolina and third-seeded Ohio State competing against one another in the other time slot. Match times will be the same on Feb. 1, with the losing teams set to play at 10 a.m. and the winning teams set to play at 2 p.m. All matches will be played at Duke's Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.
In addition to Duke, UCLA, Northwestern, Cal, Baylor, Florida, Georgia Tech, Stanford, Georgia, Vanderbilt, Southern Cal, Miami, Clemson, Arkansas and William & Mary will serve as first and second round hosts.
