DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke men's and women's tennis teams got together at Ambler Tennis Stadium on Saturday, May 5 to host the second annual Royal Blue Pro-Am.
Twenty-five of the top Duke Tennis supporters in the community were in attendance, as the fans had a chance to play six rounds of doubles with different players from both the men’s and women’s teams. The day concluded with a Royal Blue 1-Point tournament and a cookout outside of the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.
“This was an awesome day of tennis and a neat opportunity for both teams to connect with members of the community,” said Duke men’s tennis assistant coach Ramsey Smith. “I think everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and there was some great doubles played. The community support for Duke Tennis has dramatically increased in the past two years and I believe it is imperative for our program to give back to the community any chance we can.”
The Blue Devil men will host UMBC on Friday, May 11 at 10:00 am in an NCAA Tournament first round matchup, as the Duke women begin championship play at Chapel Hill, N.C., on Saturday, May 12 versus Louisiana State at 1 p.m.
