DURHAM, N.C. – Coming off winning the programs’ seventh NCAA Championship, four different Blue Devil women’s golfers received Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America accolades this week.

Duke sophomore Jaravee Boonchant received First Team All-America honors, sophomore Gina Kim earned Second Team All-America, while junior Ana Belac and senior Virginia Elena Carta were WGCA Honorable Mention All-America for their efforts during the 2018-19 campaign.

The Blue Devils finished the stroke play portion of the NCAA Championship in second place, before knocking off Stanford (3-2), Arizona (3-2) and Wake Forest (3-2) to win the programs’ seventh championship.

Boonchant, a native of Bangkok, Thailand, turned in a team-best 72.17 stroke average to go along with seven top 10 finishes on the season.  She placed tied for seventh at the NCAA Championship and knocked off the No. 1 ranked amateur in the world, Jennifer Kupcho of Wake Forest, in the NCAA title match to lift Duke past the Demon Deacons, 3-2.  Boonchant finished the season ranked No. 7 in the final Golfweek individual rankings.

Coming off a very impressive NCAA Championship, Kim received Second Team All-America accolades.  The rookie placed tied for 10th in her first NCAA Championship and posted two key wins against two of the top-ranked golfers in the world to help Duke advance during match play.  Ranked No. 36 nationally in the final Golfweek rankings, Kim notched a 73.40 stroke average in 2018-19.  Kim, who is from Chapel Hill, N.C., posted her first collegiate victory at the Landfall Tradition.

A product of Portoroz, Slovenia, Belac featured another standout season for the Blue Devils in which she posted a 73.10 stroke average and four top 10 finishes.  Her seven rounds in the 60s led Duke on the year.  Belac had an impressive NCAA Championship where she placed tied for 16th in stroke play and then went a perfect, 3-0, in match play to help propel Duke to the title.  She finished the season ranked 25th nationally.

Carta, who is from Udine, Italy, closed her storied career as one of only four Blue Devils to win both a NCAA Individual and team national title.  As a senior, she notched a 73.57 stroke average and collected her second collegiate victory at the Landfall Tradition.  Carta had two top 10 finishes on the year and went 2-1 in match play to conclude the NCAA Championship.  She closed the season as the No. 39 ranked golfer nationally.
