DURHAM, N.C. – Earlier this week, the United States Olympic Committee’s Collegiate Advisory Council met to establish and put into motion its vision for the future.
An integral part of the mission, Duke Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Kevin White—who was named chairman of the CAC in October—spoke on the council’s direction and plans for moving forward.
“We have a tremendous team, a tremendous group, and we have some pretty lofty aspirations in getting something accomplished to benefit mostly athletes but to some degree coaches as well within both the NCAA system and the Olympic movement," White said.
"There was a lot of ownership around the fact that we need to find better ways collaboratively between the USOC and the collegiate community to celebrate Olympic sport athletes and programs, and promote the value of the collegiate-USOC relationship."
According to an official release put out by the United States Olympic Committee on Wednesday, “The CAC aims to strengthen collaboration efforts between the collegiate athletic landscape and the Olympic movement to support Team USA’s collegiate athletes and coaches.”
