DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women’s golf tandem of Ana Belac and Gina Kim will make the short trip to Pinehurst, N.C., this week to compete in the North & South Women’s Amateur Championship, which will take place at Pinehurst No. 2.
A total of 36 holes of stroke play will be held July 15 and 16, followed by match play July 17-19. The 90-player field will be cut to a 32-player match play ledger and medalist honor.
This will be the second action of the summer for Belac as she also competed in the Arnold Palmer Cup in early June. Kim, a product of Chapel Hill, N.C., has been off since early June when she placed tied 12th overall and was the low amateur.
Kim will open action at 7:18 a.m., Monday along with Sadie Englemann and Paula Wesley off hole No. 1. Belac will tee off at 9:06 a.m., off hole No. 1 with Pin-Wen Lu and Nicole Adam.
Both Belac and Kim helped lead the Blue Devils to their seventh NCAA Championship in May at Blessings Golf Club in Arkansas.
Duke incoming freshman Megan Furtney will also compete in the Women's Western Amateur July 15-20 in Long Grove, Ill. The tournament begins with 36 holes of stroke play, after which the field will be trimmed to 32 players for match play. The champion will be decided after three days of match play. Furtney will open play at 8:30 a.m., in the first round along with Samantha Perrotta, Chelsea Dantonio and Tiffany Wu.
